I recommend this product

Great little device at a good price

Very easy to use. You can just switch it on and start recording straight away. The sound quality through the built-in mic is actually pretty good so although I bought the Olympus speaker I probably didn't need it. However using it did give me some peace of mind with regards to audio quality when recording meetings that were happening virtually. I haven't tested the internal mic in this context so can't compare. Playback quality on the device is also very good. The audio comes through clearly on the built-in speakers. The headphones supplied are not good quality so don't assume that the audio quality is as heard through these if you're using the headphones on your first listen. When I first played back a recording it sounded horribly crackly through the headphones that came with the device, but as soon as I switched to my own headphones the audio quality was great. The PIN setting was easy to locate and activate. I really like this security feature - the device requests the PIN every time I turn on the device, and it will automatically turn off after around 50-10 minutes of activity so if you were to forget to turn it off and leave it somewhere then your files are still protected. If you attempt to connect the device to a computer without entering the PIN you aren't able to access any of the files which is great. PIN access isn't automatically set up when you start up the device for the first time so you will need to go into the menu and activate it, but this was a straight forward process. A couple of things I would say to be aware of, not as a criticism of the device but for ease of use. Firstly the device doesn't prompt you to set the time and date on start-up which is nice if you just want to get straight to using it, but when it comes to looking for your files it can get a bit confusing if you haven't manually done this. So tip one is to not be lazy like me and make sure you go into the menu and set the time and date! Secondly the device automatically saves files in WAV format which is widely compatible with most media players. However, I encountered a bit of an edge case issue in that I need to upload and listen to my data from MS OneDrive. Unfortunately OneDrive doesn't support playback of WAV files online so if you upload them for storage you'll then need to download them again to listen back. This shouldn't be an issue for most but is useful to know just in case you have data access limitations. Overall a good quality, easy-to-use, and compact little device. Very happy with my purchase and the customer service I received was excellent - extremely helpful and knowledgeable team. Highly recommended.

Great Device!

This inexpensive device was a great little purchase for storing discreet recordings with a PIN lock. I was able to ensure files could not be accessed even when downloading to a PC using the 4 digit code. I recommend this to those who are looking for a cost-effective device to store audio with a high level security.
