Nuance Dragon Professional and Legal Software - 2026 Update

Follow these steps to update your Nuance Dragon software to the latest version. If at any point you come across errors or issues, please raise a ticket with the suppot team

Download the latest version of Dragon Professional Anywhere

Install the application

  • Right-click the zipped folder and go to properties
  • Untick the option that says 'Unblock' and click OK
         If you do not see the 'Unblock' option, go straight to Step 3.
  • Click Extract all and follow the steps to unzip the folder
  • In the newly unzipped folder, right-click the Launch SOD.exe file and click Run as Administrator
  • Follow the instructions in the installer wizard
  • Restart your PC when finished/prompted and then open the new Dragon application

Reset your password

On the login screen, click "Forgot Password" to go through the password reset process

Install Dragon Anywhere from your phone's app store

Configure the app to the correct server

If the link doesn't open the app automatically, follow the below instructions on your mobile phone where the app is isntalled:

  • Copy the configuration link - tap & hold the above button and select Copy
  • Open Dragon Anywhere app and go to the login screen
  • Tap the Nuance logo five times, quickly
  • Tap Update
  • Paste the link into the box (press and hold your finger in the box to bring up clipboard options
  • Tap OK

Reset your password

If you have already reset your password for either Dragon Professional Anywhere or Dragon Legal Anywhere, you can now login.

If you only have Dragon Anywhere Mobile, use the Forgot Password option to reset your password.

This is for the 12-month subscription of Dragon Professional V16 only. If you have the perpetual 'Single User License' with a license key, you do not need to update your software.

Upgrade Method 1 (Repair Install)

Repair & Log In

  • Run the installer and choose Repair, then complete the installation (restart may be required)
  • On the login screen, use Forgot password to create a new password and log in

Import Your Old Profile

  • When prompted to create a new profile, select Cancel
  • Go to Settings → Profile → Import, and open: Users\Username\AppData\Local\Nuance\NS16\Users
  • Select your previous profile folder

Upgrade Method 2 (Change Server)

Update Server & Log In

  • Go to Settings → Administrative Settings
  • Update the server to the correct regional address: nms-uk.nuancehdp.com
  • Apply the change (Dragon will prompt you to reauthenticate - a restart may be required)
  • Use Forgot password to set a new password (an email will be sent to you)

Import Your Old Profile

  • When prompted to create a new profile, select Cancel.
  • Go to Settings → Profile → Import, and open: Users\Username\AppData\Local\Nuance\NS16\Users
  • Select your previous profile folder

FAQs

What happens to my profiles, commands & vocabulary?

Your custom words, step-by-step commands and auto-texts will be automaticaly transferred to the new server profile. If you've recorded any custom pronunciations, these will need to be re-added (Dragon Professional V16 only)

Will there be any downtime?

The migration process should be seamless, with no downtime. 

What if I miss the deadline?

After 31 March 2026, the old servers will be decommissioned. If you don't complete this update before that happens, your software won't be able to launch and run.

Will my accuracy be impacted?

Initially you may notice slightly reduced recognition accuracy. Please continue to dictate for 5-10 minutes to see full improvements to the recognition accuracy.
